This lifeform is widespread in North America. This lifeform is very common in suitable environments.

Clinostomum marginatum (=C. complanatum) is usually encountered as a common yellow grub attached to or within numerous species of North American fresh water fish. This lifeform can use herons and snails for various stages in its life cycle. Refer to Hoffman for a more detailed description.
